A mandala offering is a skilful method to make great merit. This method has been incorporated into the set of ngöndro practices. We mentally make offerings of various enjoyments, sense pleasures and one’s wealth, whereas physically we offer various substances along with grains, mostly barley mixed with herbal medicines and precious stones in the crafted mandala set. The mandala of thirty seven heaps and seven heaps are to be made with this mixture. Semi precious stones can be added to the mandala offering. Stone chips are now available in Dharma Ratna and include Malachite, Lapis, Amber, Goldsand Stone, Garnet and many other types. This can be used for various ngöndro practices such as the Tara ngöndro, Thukdrub Bharche Kusel ngöndro or Kunsang Thuktik ngöndro.
