A traditional ceremonial scarf common in cultures where Tibetian Buddhism is practiced or has a strong influence, a khata symbolizes purity and compassion. It is an honor for a person to be presented with a khata as it is a genuine act of blessing and goodwill, but because the majority of khata are now made of synthetic materials, disposing of them is emerging as a serious environmental challenge when they are burnt or abandoned like any other synthetic material.
As an alternative to existing synthetic khata we are offering biodegradable khata.
Made from an eco-friendly, biodegradable bamboo fiber blend, these khata help lessen our environmental footprint as we offer them to others, truly honoring both them and the world we share.
This biodegradable khata is printed with the eight auspicious symbols (tib. tashi tagye). It is produced in Nepal by a women-led business that gives back a portion of the proceeds toward various social causes.
